Four Bead Sizes, Matched to Four Classes of Sample

Triple-Pure zirconium beads arrive ready to use and certified nuclease and protease free. Zirconium sits between glass and steel in density, which makes it the general-purpose high-impact bead.

The size range is where the choice is made:

0.1 mm for gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. 0.5 mm for bacteria, fungi, spores, molds and small yeasts. 1.0 mm for fungi, spores, algae and larger yeasts. 1.5 mm for soft tissue.

The pattern is consistent: the tougher and larger the structure, the larger the bead. Matching the two is the single biggest factor in how long a run takes and how complete the lysis is.
