Pipette Tips
Pipette Tips for Laboratory Use
Pipette tips are the highest-volume consumable in most laboratories, so the choice between filtered and unfiltered, sterile and non-sterile, bulk and racked adds up fast — in cost, in plastic waste and in the risk of a contaminated run. StockMyLab stocks tips from 10 µl to 10 ml, in every packaging format, fitting most major pipette brands.
Choosing pipette tips
Volume and fit
Tips are matched to a pipette's volume range, not just its brand. The range runs from 10 µl up to 10 ml, including 20, 100, 200, 300, 1000 and 1250 µl. Tips are manufactured with Swiss injection molds and fit most major pipette brands, so you are not tied to your pipette manufacturer's own consumables.
Crystal-clear polypropylene with accurate graduation marks lets you see what is in the tip; useful when a partial aspiration would otherwise go unnoticed.
Filtered or unfiltered
Filter tips carry an aerosol barrier that stops sample and aerosol reaching the pipette shaft. Use them wherever carry-over would invalidate the result: PCR setup, RNA work, anything involving amplification, and sample handling where cross-contamination between wells matters.
For routine liquid transfer where nothing is amplified downstream, unfiltered tips do the same job at lower cost.
Sterile or non-sterile
Pre-sterile tips arrive ready for cell culture and sterile technique. Non-sterile tips are certified RNase, DNase and pyrogen free, which covers most molecular work — sterility and nuclease-free are not the same thing, and you only need to pay for the one your protocol requires.
Packaging: bags, racks and refills
The packaging format decides your cost per tip and how much plastic you throw away.
Bulk bags - the lowest cost per tip, for high-volume work where you load your own racks
Hinged racks - ready to use in an autoclavable dispenser box, the fastest option at the bench
Reload stacks - refill an existing rack instead of buying a new one. Cheaper per tip than racked, and it cuts the plastic you discard with every box
Tips from bags can be used directly or used to refill racks, so the two formats combine.
Specialist tips
Extra narrow XL tips reach into narrow vessels and deep tubes that a standard tip cannot. Gel loading tips are made for loading wells on an electrophoresis gel without damaging them. Large volume tips of 5 and 10 ml cover serological transfer, and dedicated tips are available for Halo pipettors.
Material and purity
Tips are moulded from US FDA approved polypropylene and certified RNase, DNase and pyrogen free. Racks are autoclavable, so they can be reused after refilling rather than discarded.
