Load a 96-Well Plate With Grinding Balls in One Action

Filling a 96-well plate with grinding balls by hand is the slowest step in a plate-based homogenization run, and the easiest one to get wrong: a missed well is a failed sample that only shows up at the end.

The ball dropper loads a full plate in a single action. Balls are levelled across the template, the plate is placed underneath and every well receives one ball at the same time. What took several minutes of pipetting or tweezing takes seconds, and every well is filled identically.

Three versions are available, matched to the ball diameter used with the BeadBlaster 96: 2.8 mm, 4 mm and 5 mm. Pick the dropper for the ball size the protocol calls for; a dropper for one diameter will not meter another reliably.
